“21 Jump Street” – TV Series (1987-90)
It was 21 Jump Street that made Johnny Depp a teen idol. Johnny did not enjoy the popularity but continued under contract for four seasons as Officer Tom Hanson.
21 Jump Street was a hit with younger audiences on the Fox network. This American crime drama TV series was based around a squad of youthful cops that went undercover into high schools and colleges to apprehend troubled youth. It dealt with topical youth issues: drugs/alcohol, AIDS, homophobia, abuse, sex etc.
After the problem was solved, each episode usually had a moral message and often cast members would appear after the show with a public service announcement.
Johnny Depp has an uncredited role in 21 Jump Street released in 2012. He played DEA Agent Tom Hanson Jr.
