Johnny Depp plays Sir James M Barrie in the semi-biographical film “Finding Neverland” released in 2004.

Sir James Matthew Barrie was a Scottish author best known for creating Peter Pan, a play about a boy who wouldn’t grow up and his love interest, an ordinary girl named Wendy who had adventures in a fantasy land called Neverland. Sir James Barrie was born May 9, 1860 and died Jun 19, 1937.

“Finding Neverland” tells the story of how a how J. M. Barrie’s relationship with a widow and her sons inspired him to write many stories and plays including Peter Pan. One of the troubled boys was actually named Peter and he in particular did not want to grow up.

Finding Neverland released in 2004 exactly 100 years after JM Barrie’s play debuted.
